Watch here Cristiano Ronaldo goal

Benzema scores a hat-trick and Cristiano Ronaldo nets one goal; both are the team's top scorers in the Champions League with 4 strikes each.

Benzema made Real Madrid history tonight by scoring the team's 300th goal in the Champions League from a header against Auxerre. The Frenchman netted two more strikes and Ronaldo one, leading the Whites in their 4-0 victory against the French side. Dudek made some excellent saves, but he was forced to leave the pitch just before half-time after receiving a blow to his jaw. He was replaced by Adan.

Real Madrid have taken 16 out of a possible 18 points in the group stage, netting 15 goals and conceding just two along the way. This is the best run the team has ever had in the group stage of the Champions League, and it has tallied more points in it than any other side since its creation in the 1999/2000 campaign.

Benzema scored the opener by heading in a terrific cross into the small box by Ronaldo (12'). Auxerre fought back and tried to score an equaliser to keep their chances of making the Europa League alive. Dudek cleared to shots with amazing saves before leaving the match.

Cristiano scored the team's second goal on the 48-minute mark with a powerful shot after receiving a fantastic assist from Marcelo. Real Madrid wanted more and the Brazilian came close to scoring after a sensational run, but his shot was off target.

Benzema netted the team's third. the Frenchman controlled the ball beautifully, had room to dribble it, and eventually defeated the keeper with a crossed shot (71'). Cristiano Ronaldo was then substituted by youth teamer Sarabia, who made his Champions League debut tonight. Sarabia showcased his quality and also great drive, living up to the challenge of playing for the first team. Assistant coach Karanka also brought on Garay, who made his first appearance since recovering from the injury he suffered from in August after facing Bayern Munich in the preseason.

In the final minutes of the match, Benzema sealed the team's great victory when he intercepted a weak clearance from goalkeeper Soring outside the box and scored an impressive curved lobbed shot, proving he is the sort of striker Real Madrid needs.
