Looking back at Cristiano Ronaldo's most memorable Premier League goals

Cristiano Ronaldo scoring in the Premier League for Man Utd

Cristiano Ronaldo graced the Premier League during his two stints at Manchester United. The Portuguese was a hero at Old Trafford in his United playing days, scoring several spectacular goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo had two impactful stints with Manchester United, establishing himself as a club legend with memorable goals. Though he left the club under a cloud in 2022, he left behind a legacy of 100 Premier League goals. Despite Erik ten Hag's promising start as United's manager, leading them to two domestic cup finals and a third-place league finish, the current season suggests they might miss out on UEFA Champions League qualification. Ronaldo's highlights include his unforgettable goals against Portsmouth and a hat-trick against Tottenham in March 2022. Approaching 40, the prodigious Portuguese shows no signs of slowing down...

Cristiano Ronaldo - Another level:

Will Man United miss out on the top four?

Erik ten Hag had an excellent first season at Old Trafford, guiding the Red Devils to two domestic cup finals and a third place in the Premier League. However, things have been tough at the start of this season, and United could miss out on the UEFA Champions League via the EPL route. Looking at the English Premier League betting odds, you can get just 1/10 for Ronaldo's old club to finish outside the top four.

Ronaldo left Old Trafford under a cloud in 2022 after returning to Manchester in 2021. His second coming might not have worked out as the Portugal captain would have wanted, but he will always be a United legend. In April 2022, Ronaldo scored his 100th Premier League goal for the club in a defeat at Arsenal.

Pompey double in 2006

Ronaldo scored two magical goals against Portsmouth in 2006. Both were hit with tremendous velocity, but they were two completely different goals. The first one came at Fratton Park in February 2006. He capitalised on a loose ball in the middle of Pompey's half and unleashed an unstoppable shot from outside the box.

His second goal against Portsmouth in 2006 was at Old Trafford later in the year. He fired in a long-range free-kick, giving former England stopper David James no chance in the Portsmouth net.

Another screamer against Portsmouth

During his first spell with Man United, Ronaldo loved playing against Portsmouth. Overall, the Portuguese scored six league and cup goals against Pompey. Two years after the first one, Ronaldo netted another memorable free-kick against Portsmouth.

This one was even better, as his powerful set-piece almost ripped the net off. James stood still and watched the ball fly into his top corner, and it remains one of the Premier League's best-ever free-kicks.

Thunderbolt vs Tottenham

Ronaldo's time at Old Trafford may have ended on a sour note, but he created several memorable memories after making a return. His best performance the second time around was against Tottenham Hotspur in March 2022.

United and Spurs were battling for a top-four place in the Premier League, and the matchup at Old Trafford turned into a five-goal thriller. Ronaldo ran the show, scoring three times and putting on a Man of the Match performance in front of the United fans.

The first goal was the pick of the bunch, as Ronaldo powerfully shot past Hugo Lloris from 30 yards. The superb strike was later voted the Manchester United goal of the season. The second was a tap-in, but Ronaldo's winner was a typical bullet header.

Even as he draws closer to 40, Ronaldo is showing no signs of letting up. The No. 7 is still scoring vital goals for club and country, and there is still plenty more to come from the peerless Portuguese.
