06.02.2021 » Juventus 2-0 AS Roma. Ronaldo bags another goal in Turin!

Cristiano Ronaldo scores Juventus goal against AS Roma

Three points in the bag for the Italian champions, after a clean win against AS Roma, this Saturday evening. Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring with a good strike from outside the box and an own goal from Ibanez confirmed Juventus' victory later in the second half...

Juventus have collected another win for the Serie A this Saturday in Turin, after hosting and defeating AS Roma by 2-0. The victory, however, was only possible thanks to a great strike from Cristiano Ronaldo in the first half and a solid defence from the Bianconeri. This was the 3rd straight game in the league without conceding for Juve, who are now on a 6-game winning streak in all competitions. Ronaldo scored for his second consecutive game and he has now obtained 16 Serie A goals in a total of 17 appearances. The Italian champions are still 5 points behind Inter Milan and 4 points behind AC Milan, who will play tomorrow at the San Siro, against Crotone. A podium place was at stake...

Juventus came out triumphant from today's clash at the Allianz Stadium, beating Roma by 2-0 and by doing so, also stealing the Roman side the 3rd place in the league. The match, however, was mostly dominated by the visitors, who had more a lot more shots, corners and of course, possession. Juve was clinical though and Ronaldo only needed one chance to bury the first goal of the evening... The Portuguese player was once again decisive for his team, just the day after he celebrated his 36th birthday.

The Vecchia Signora made a few changes to the starting lineup when we look back at the starting eleven from the mid-week clash against Inter. Buffon was replaced by Szczesny in goal, while at the back only Alex Sandro kept his spot. The Brazilian saw Chiellini, Bonucci and Danilo joining the team and completing the back-four this Saturday, while the midfield was formed by McKennie, Arthur, Rabiot and Chiesa. Upfront, Morata joined the insatiable Ronaldo in Juve's attack.

As for AS Roma, they relegated their captain Edin Dzeko to the bench for the second game in a row, following his argument with the team's coach, Paulo Fonseca. Most of the attacking maneuvers were created by the former Arsenal and Manchester United player, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but Juventus defended well the entire game and the visitors were unable to beat Szczesny.

Cristiano Ronaldo left foot finish in Juve 2-0 AS Roma

Ronaldo broke the resistance...

The opener arrived very early in the first half, still before the first quarter of an hour had passed. We were inside the 13th minute of the game when Cristiano Ronaldo received a short pass from Álvaro Morata just outside the box, set up the ball for his left foot and slammed it into the low corner of Pau López's goal, making it 1-0 for the Italian champions.

The 36-year old forward is scoring easily than ever this season and it's by far his best campaign with Juventus since he landed in Italy back in the summer of 2018. Ronaldo already scored a total of 23 goals in all competitions for the Bianconeri, 16 of those in the Serie A. He's the competition top scorer now, as Romelu Lukaku follows him on the list in second place, with 14 goals.

The second and final goal of the evening was scored in the 69th minute of the game, after a bad clearance from Ibanez. The Brazilian was trying to intercept a pass from Kulusevski to Ronaldo and even though his action prevented the Portuguese forward from adding a second goal to his record today, he ended up deflecting the ball into his own net and sealing the deal for Juventus. The Bianconeri will now prepare the Coppa Italia semi-finals second leg scheduled for next Tuesday, as they will be hosting Inter at the Allianz Stadium, following a 2-1 win in Milan.
