Cristiano Ronaldo disappointed with Juventus loss against Inter

A truly disappointing performance from Juventus this Sunday night at the Giuseppe Meazza, allowed Inter Milan to grab a 2-0 victory and send shockwaves across the Italian champions' realm. Vidal and Barella scored the only goals in tonight's game...

The Italian champions are in serious risk of failing to renew their Serie A title, after losing 2-0 at the hands of Inter Milan this Sunday night. Cristiano Ronaldo started the game next to Morata in the attack, but neither of them managed to be a threat to the hosts, in what was arguably one of the worst performances of the season... Even though this was only the second time Juventus lost a game in the Italian league this season, it's also true this was the 8th game in which the Bianconeri dropped points. Ronaldo and his teammates are now 7 points behind both Inter and AC Milan and if they don't get back to the winning track real quick, they might just play free slots online and definitely forget about their title hopes. The Vecchia Signora will now have to lift their heads as soon as possible, as Juve will clash with Napoli next Wednesday, for the Italian Super Cup.

So many things went wrong...
Where to start?

It's hard to tell what exactly went wrong for Juventus tonight, as everything seemed to be off pace for the Italian champions and they ended up being outplayed, outclassed and outmached by a very organized Inter side. The midweek challenge for the Coppa Italia against Genoa can't be used as an excuse, because even though they had to play 120 minutes in order to get past their opponents, Inter had the exact same problem, as they were also forced to play into extra-time against Fiorentina on the same day...

Not only that, but Andrea Pirlo was also cautious in rotating most of his starting players and only had 3 names repeated in the starting sheet from last Wednesday and tonight's lineup. Cristiano Ronaldo for example, started the cup game on the bench and only joined it a couple minutes before the end of regular time. Therefore, it seems obvious fatigue was not the issue tonight and there are multiple variables in Juve's game that Pirlo will have to address, preferably sooner than later.

For tonight's clash, Pirlo had Szczesny in goal and a back-four formed by Danilo and Frabotta on the wings, and a central partnership with Bonucci and Chiellini. The keys of the Bianconeri's midfield were handed to Rabiot, Bentancur and Ramsey, while Chiesa was tasked to make the link to the team's attack. In the last third of the pitch and with Dybala injured and ruled out for tonight's game, Pirlo relied on the obvious choices, Cristiano Ronaldo and Álvaro Morata.

Inter was too strong for Juve...

The opening goal in this Derby D'Italia was scored in the 12th minute of the first half, when a great cross from Barella found Vidal's head inside Juventus' box. The former Bianconeri player jumped high in the air and with determination he headed the ball to the back of the net, leaving Szczesny glued to the ground. This was Vidal's first goal for Inter in the Serie A and his second in all competitions.

Juventus' best chance to score in the first half ended up being ruled out for offside, as Chiesa had a rebound falling to his feet and decided to assist Ronaldo in the center for an easy tap in. The linesman was quick to raise his flag though and Pirlo's men never really managed to create big scoring chances after that. Inter maintainted their 1-goal lead until the half-time break and shooting stats were giving us a good indication of what we were seeing so far. In the first 45 minutes, the hosts had already had 11 shots, while Juve only counted with 3.

The second half was a bit more even in terms of shooting opportunities, but Inter was still the only side looking dangerous in attack. Therefore and without much surprise, the Nerazurri reached their second goal in the 52nd minute of the game, when a great long pass from Bastoni allowed Barella to explore a huge gap in Juventus' defence. The 23-year old Italian midfielder showed his coolness in front of Szczesny and made it 2-0 for the hosts. The champions were in deep trouble and Inter played very well, controlling the game until the referee's final whistle.
