15.07.2020 » Sassuolo 3-3 Juventus. A point conquered in a difficult game

Cristiano Ronaldo unhappy with Juventus result

It sure wasn't the game the Bianconeri were expecting, but at the end of the day, the Italian champions will settle for the draw and will try to improve for the next game. Sassuolo and Juventus 3-3 in a highly attacking game and the Vecchia Signora has now a 7-point lead over Atalanta on the top of the Serie A.

It seems there are no easy games for Juventus anymore and for the third consecutive fixture in the Serie A, the Bianconeri couldn't leave the field with the 3 points in the bag. This Wednesday, they visited the Mapei Stadium to play Sassuolo and they did start the game in great style, as the Italian champions were already holding a 2-goal lead in the 12th minute of the first half. That only marked the beginning of the true goal-fest though as both teams were determined in presenting the fans with a thrilling attacking game and the result was a final score of 3-3, which must have surprised finnish gamblers from Parhaat Kasinot and many other casinos. Cristiano Ronaldo didn't score tonight, but the Vecchia Signora counted on Danilo, Gonzalo Higuaín and Alex Sandro to make the scoreboard changing throughout the night.

A strong entrance...

Juventus have entered tonight's game against Sassuolo with the right mentality, showing an unusual attacking stance and looking determined to get the job done as soon as possible. The first half had both sides producing multiple chances to score and it wasn't surprising at all to see the scoreboard changing three times before the half-time break.

Maurizzio Sarri made a few changes ahead of this clash, but his goalkeeper's choice was the usual league starter, Szczesny. In defense, two changes were brought, as Alex Sandro returned to the starting lineup, together with the 35-year old Giorgio Chiellini. The two were welcomed by Danilo and De Ligt, who completed the back four for tonight's encounter. The Italian champions' midfield saw Pjanic replacing Rabiot and teaming up with Matuidi and Bentancur. Upfront, Dybala was relegated to the bench and Higuaín stepped in to partner up with Bernardeschi and of course, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Bianconeri were enthusiastic right after the kickoff and they got rewarded with just 5 minutes played in the first half. Miralem Pjanic, who will play for FC Barcelona next season, showed his great vision when he found Danilo completely unmarked in a corner-kick play, granting the Brazilian a great chance to strike an early blow against the hosts. And that's exactly what he did, making it 1-0 for the Juventus and scoring his 3rd goal in the Serie A this season.

An entertaining goal fest...

It would only take another 7 minutes for Juventus to score again and extend their lead to 2 goals. This time, the Italian champions scored from an open play and after another terrific pass from Pjanic. The Bosnian midfielder found Gonzalo Higuaín running away from Sassuolo's last line of defense, but he did that with an incredible long ball wasting any touch in receiving it or even looking at his teammate's position. The Argentine forward then had no trouble beating the goalkeeper and making it 2-0 for Juve.

However, the hosts weren't going to throw the towel just yet and managed to reduce the lead to a single goal when they beat Szczesny in the 29th minute of the first half. A good combination between Caputo and Filip Duricic allowed the Serbian midfielder to strike the ball from inside the box and this time, there was nothing Szczesny could have done to prevent it from hitting the back of the net. A more than deserving goal for Sassuolo, who kept pushing for a second goal in the remaining time of the first half...

The warning signs of a possible comeback were given in the first half and the hosts didn't lose time to get back in the game when both teams returned to the pitch. In the 51st minute, Domenico Berardi converted a brilliant free-kick and left Szczesny nailed on the ground unable to react. All back to square one at the Mapei Stadium and plenty of minutes left to be played...

The comeback was completed just four minutes later, when a low shot from Berardi ended up resulting in an assist to Franceco Caputo, who slided in on the far post to push the ball in and make it 3-2 for Sassuolo. At this point, no one could argue that the hosts were deserving to be in front...

Nevertheless, now it would be the time for the Italian champions to react and their awnser came from the head of Alex Sandro. The Brazilian showed up on the near post to head in a great cross from Paulo Dybala, who had came in for Higuaín just a few minutes earlier. It was also the Brazilian first goal this season! That set the final score in 3-3 and now it's time for Juventus to prepare their next game against Lazio.
