24.09.2019 » A quick look at Ronaldo's 2018/2019 season
Everybody was surprised when Ronaldo announced his departure from Real Madrid after spending nine years at the club. During that period, he became Real Madrid's top scorer in its history, won 5 Champions League titles and broke countless records. He was so dominant in the league that online bookies were not opening a single sports bet on whether he will score a goal on a certain game or not. If you ask how or why, just keep in mind that in the 438 games that he played for Real Madrid, he scored 450 goals and assisted for another 131. With that being said, he told reporters that he felt like he needed to open a new chapter in his life and dive into another challenge in his career. And since he had never played in the Serie A, Juventus made every effort they could to sign him, which they did, for a price of $131 million. He had a great debut season at the club, and here are some of the records and accomplishments that he managed to reach during that year.
Cristiano Ronaldo - Season 2018/19:
We will start with the transfer itself. When Juventus bought Ronaldo, they paid the highest sum in Italian history. No Italian team had ever spent that much money on a single player. Ronaldo was also the most expensive player that was older than 30 in football history. Ronaldo was the first player to reach 400 league goals in Europe's top 5 leagues. Quickly after starting his season with the Old Lady, he became the fastest player in Juventus' history to score his first 10 goals in just 16 games. Ronaldo also scored Juve's 5000th goal. He was named as the Player of the Month numerous times at Juventus, and at the end of the season, he even got the Serie A MVP Award. Cristiano also became the first player in history to win 100 Champions League matches.
The 2018/2019 season has definitely been big and successful for Ronaldo on both club and international level. He played a major part for Juventus in winning the Serie A title and the Supercoppa Italiana. Two trophies in a debut season is a great achievement. On the international level, he helped the Portuguese team win their first-ever UEFA Nations League. Portugal played the final against the Netherlands and won 1-0.
Cristiano Ronaldo played a total of 43 matches in the 2018/2019 season. 31 of them were in the Serie A, 9 in the UEFA Champions League, 2 in Coppa Italia, and 1 in the Supercoppa Italiana. He scored a total of 21 goals in the Serie A, 6 in the Champions League, and 1 in the Supercoppa Italiana. That is a total of 29 goals, with still 10 assists linked to his name.
