Cristiano Ronaldo vs Bayern Munich

With the Copa del Rey's celebrations left behind already, Real Madrid are now completely focused on the UEFA Champions League semi-finals first leg. The Merengues will meet Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabéu this Wednesday night and are very hopeful in having Cristiano Ronaldo ready in time for the clash.

Cristiano Ronaldo is on a race against time to recover from his knee injury and still get ready in time to face Bayern Munich, this coming Wednesday. After having been forced to already miss out several important games such as this week's Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, the Portuguese star is now fully committed to do everything on his reach in order to be available for the 2-leg tie against Bayern Munchen. The first leg takes place this Wednesday (April 23) at the Santiago Bernabéu, while the return leg will be played the following Tuesday (April 29), at the Allianz Arena. The good news are that Ronaldo has already trained with his teammates both this Friday and Saturday, and even though it's still too soon to say anything with certainty, there seem to be good chances that he'll make it to Ancelotti's starting line-upon Wednesday night. Besides this Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich titanic battle, the other Champions League semi-finals will also take us to Madrid on Tuesday, in what promises to be an enigmatic and unpredictable Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea encounter at the Vicente Calderón.

Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich - Trailer:

Right after the Clasico against Barcelona, Ronaldo granted a quick interview on the Mestalla pitch, where he congratulated his teammates for the win and expressed his belief in returning in time for the Champions League semi finals first leg, against Bayern Munich.

Cristiano Ronaldo: "Real Madrid have done great, we showed we can handle the pressure and I think it was a deserved win. We played better and created the best chances in the game. It's great to have won the first trophy of the season, but we still have two more left that we plan to fight for... I'm really happy, even though the truth is I wanted to have had the chance to play in this game and help my teammates. Nevertheless, they have all been outstanding!", remarked the former Manchester United player.

Cristiano Ronaldo: "We've had a very difficult campaign to reach this Copa del Rey final, but to get here and win it against Barça, definitely makes it even more special. We're all extremely happy and everyone in the team has been flawless. Our coach also deserves all the praising he's getting, because he has taken the right choices. However and for now, it's important to start thinking about what's left in the Spanish League and in the Champions League."

Cristiano Ronaldo is back to training after injury

The Portuguese star has been out of the action since Real Madrid's 3-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund, for the Champions League quarter-finals first leg, on April 3. Even though he has missed the last 4 fixtures for Real Madrid, including this week's Clasico for the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, he remains very confident in returning next Wednesday and leading his team to what could be a crucial first leg game against Bayern Munchen.

Ronaldo: "I'm getting better from my injury, a lot better! I don't feel any pain anymore and I hope to be fit for Bayern Munich on Wednesday, but if not, at least for the second leg. It's important to take one step at a time, because what I want the most is to return the quick as possible to help my team", outlined the FIFA Ballon d'Or 2013 winner.

Real Madrid have gone through their scheduled training sessions this Friday and Saturday, in both which Cristiano Ronaldo has already joined his teammates without showing any limitations. As a safety measure though, he has finished both sessions training alone and performing individualized drills. Everyone at the club is being very cautious with this stage of CR7's injury recovery and it's very likely that we'll have to wait for Wednesday night in order to know if Ronaldo will play against Bayern Munich or not...
